My August 2025 Romance Reads
For me, there's nothing better than a roller coaster of swooning romance book adventures over the summer. Whether I'm at the beach, in bed, or on vacation, I enjoy a good romance read.
#1: Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi
The whole BookTok community (including me) swoons over Aaron Warner, who is the main male character of the series. With his charming looks, blazing green eyes, luscious gold blonde hair, and intimidating demeanor, he is the perfect blend of sexiness and overprotectiveness.
The BookTok community may disagree on a lot of opinions, but they collectively love Aaron Warner.
We can also all agree that Kenji Kishimoto is the funniest character and that James is adorable.
#2: Better Than The Movies by Lynn Painter
Wes Bennett's famous "She. Isn't. You." on page 340 has not only his childhood crush (and future girlfriend) Liz Buxhaum smiling like a fan girl who got noticed by her favorite celebrity, but also has the readers (plus me) smiling just as much. This quote had me kicking my feet at 12 A.M at home.
This romance YA book is perfect for those who love a realistic, fluffy, wholesome high school romance. Buxhaum's (narrator) character development throughout the book is seriously phenomenal. Don't wanna give any spoilers, so get to reading if you wanna find out!
I personally loved this book so much. For me, it was a no-doubt 10/10. I would erase my memory to read it all over again. Would recommend this book for first-time readers who want to get into romance YA!

#3: Grumpy Darling by Alexandra Moody
After I read the last sentence, I was slapped with a state of realization that I could not believe it was over already. It felt unreal. I was stunned by the amazingness of this book. First, it was a trifecta full of my favorite tropes: friends to lovers, grumpy x sunshine, and slow burn. Second, the book was not only about the sizzling romance between Paige and Grayson. It was also about Paige's journey of self-discovery, her fight to fix her emotionally distant family ties, Grayson's need to take a leap of faith, and his change from self-denial to accepting that he can't control the things in his life that have already happened. It was truly like I was with them along the way.
The side characters are amazing, too. I love how quirky, unhinged, and funny Bonnie is. And Cammie remains the confident, intimidating (only at first) queen she is. She's even more intimidating than her brother Grayson.
The number that I would rate this book in would break the scale. It's that good.
